1. About History Orbit

History Orbit (the "Site", "we", "us") is owned and operated by Himank Sangtani, a sole proprietor trading as "History Orbit", based in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. History Orbit is an individual proprietorship and has no separate legal existence from its owner. By creating an account or using the Site, you ("you", "user") agree to these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Eligibility & accounts

The Site does not support anonymous or guest use. You sign in with a Google account, and we rely on Google to verify that account. You are responsible for all activity under your Google account on this Site and for keeping that account secure. You must be legally capable of entering into a binding contract under Indian law to use the Site.

3. Plans & the free tier

Every Google account that signs in is on the Free plan, which allows 3 searches a day and, for each event opened, its overview, argument, full essay and 200-word summary. The allowance is counted in a rolling window that opens with your first search and comes back 18 hours later; searches you do not use do not carry over. Paid plans carry a daily allowance counted the same way, and each paid plan lasts for the billing period paid for (30 days for monthly billing, 365 days for annual), after which the account returns to the Free plan unless it is renewed. More searches and features require an active paid plan. Plan features, limits and prices are shown on our Pricing page and may change from time to time; the price and features that applied at the time you paid for a plan continue to apply for that billing period.

Advertising. The Free plan carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Our own ad units are clearly labelled and sit in the page between sections: one on the home page and on the country and no-coverage pages, and two on each event page (one within the content, one after it). Google may also place further ads on those same pages automatically (AdSense Auto ads), which can include ads fixed to the edge of the screen and full-screen ads shown when you move between pages; these can be closed. Ads appear only on the home page, on event pages and on the country and no-coverage pages, and never on the sign-in, pricing, payment, settings, legal or feedback pages. Every paid plan (Explorer, Scholar and Researcher) is ad-free; a paid reader's pages carry no ad code at all. We do not choose or endorse the ads shown, and your dealings with any advertiser are between you and that advertiser.

4. Payments — Razorpay

History Orbit never collects or stores card numbers, card CVV, net-banking passwords, UPI PINs or any other banking credentials.

Online, through Razorpay. Every payment is made online and processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a third-party payment aggregator. You enter your payment details in Razorpay's checkout, not on History Orbit, and Razorpay's own terms apply to that transaction. The price is set by us for the plan you choose. Your plan is activated automatically once Razorpay confirms the payment and we have verified its signature; if a payment is taken but your plan is not activated, do not pay again — write to us with the Razorpay payment ID and we will activate it or resolve it with Razorpay. Payment questions can be sent to thehistoryorbit@gmail.com.

You may only pay with a payment method you are authorised to use. Fraudulent payments, or payments later reversed as unauthorised, may result in suspension of your account.

5. No refunds, cancellation & renewal

All payments are final. We do not offer refunds once a plan has been verified and activated, including for partial billing periods, non-use, or a change of mind. Please review the plan you are paying for before completing payment. This also applies when a monthly plan is deactivated for a breach of these Terms (see Deactivating a monthly plan).

Plans do not auto-renew. There is no recurring or automatic billing of any kind — when your billing period ends, your plan simply is not renewed unless you choose to pay again. You may stop using a paid plan at any time by simply not renewing it; there is no cancellation process or cancellation fee.

6. Content & intellectual property

Summaries, timelines, essays and related written content on History Orbit are authored and curated by us from primary historical records and named historical sources. This content, along with the Site's design, layout and branding, is our intellectual property (or is used under licences we hold) and may not be copied, republished, scraped or redistributed without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial reading and fair-use quotation with attribution.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to bypass the Site's account limits, login wall, or plan restrictions;
  • Scrape, mirror, or bulk-download content from the Site;
  • Make fraudulent payments or use a payment method you are not authorised to use;
  • Interfere with the Site's normal operation, including its rate limits and security controls;
  • Send abusive, obscene, hateful or threatening language through the feedback form or any other part of the Site, in English, Hindi or any other language or script;
  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

Feedback is checked automatically before it is accepted. A message containing abusive language is refused and is not stored as feedback. Each refused attempt is recorded and reported to the Site's administrator by email, together with your name, email address, account identifier, the time, and your IP address, and the administrator may then suspend your account permanently. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Historical accuracy & disclaimer

We take care to author content from primary records and credited historians, and every summary and timeline passes an internal quality check before publication. Even so, history is often contested, sources can conflict, and errors are possible. Content on the Site is provided for educational and informational purposes only and should not be treated as the sole or final authority on any historical event. The Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, History Orbit and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Site, including any reliance placed on its content. Our total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site, for any cause whatsoever, shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, made a fraudulent payment, or misused the Site. A suspension for abusive language is permanent: a suspended account cannot sign in or use the Site, and only the Site's administrator can lift it. You may stop using the Site at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, no-refunds, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Deactivating a monthly plan. For the same reasons, the Site's administrator may deactivate a paid monthly plan, with or without also suspending the account. Annual plans are never deactivated. A deactivated plan returns the account to the Free plan at once, no refund is given for the rest of the billing period, and the deactivation is final: the deactivated plan is never switched back on, even if a suspension is later lifted. After a deactivation the account cannot buy a new subscription until the administrator reactivates subscribing for it, and even then not before the date the deactivated monthly period would have ended. Reactivating only allows a new purchase; it does not restore the old plan. Until a new plan is bought, the administrator may pause subscribing again and reactivate it again, any number of times; pausing charges and refunds nothing. We email you when your plan is deactivated and each time subscribing is reactivated or paused again, and a suspended account also sees the deactivation on its suspension page.

11. Grievance redressal

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the details of our Grievance Officer are provided below. If you have any complaint or grievance regarding the Site or these Terms, please write to us and we will acknowledge and address it within a reasonable time, and in any case within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.

Grievance Officer: Himank Sangtani
Email: thehistoryorbit@gmail.com

12. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, the courts at Rajkot, Gujarat shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Site or applicable law. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
